Kerry King isn’t sure that late bandmate Jeff Hanneman would ever have been good enough to return to Slayer. He’d been out of action for two years when he died in 2013 of alcohol-related illness, while an attack of necrotising fasciitis had destroyed the muscles in his left arm. And even though he attended rehearsals ahead of each tour he missed, he had to be told he wasn’t capable of rejoining his colleagues on the road. King tells Guitar World: “From seven months after he g
Following the same path of Iron Maiden (kind of...) Metallica is about to launch a special beer but, unfortunately, only in Canada. They have teamed up with Budweiser to produce this limited edition run of beer to mark thrash giant's tour dates. The black cans, featuring the band’s iconic logo, will be on sale from September 28 to mark their two appearances at Quebec City’s new Centre Videotron venue this month. More than 91,000 Metallica cans will be made, and sold in packs
This mashup is crazy and it's something you won't expect of but YouTuber Golpe Baixo has made bridged that gap between heavy metal and latin pop. The infamous Ricky Martin has been mashed up with Slipknot live footage to create the funniest thing we've seen all week. Enjoy it!
Issue 59 of Prog Magazine features an extensive and in-depth interview with Dream Theater founding member, John Petrucci. The guitarist opens up about Mike Portnoy, staying in shape, being a college drop-out and what would Rush do. According to Petrucci, "There are iconic bands out there who we still look up to, you. You could be sitting there, trying to make a decision and think, Would Geddy do that?" "I think it's the kind of band we are, people do what to see how are these
This is the title of the new acoustic solo album from Soundgarden frontman. It’s hard to tell how low-key a release this actually is from Chris Cornell, coming out with relatively little PR fanfare but accompanied by a lengthy North American acoustic tour. It affects a certain upfront intimacy but is produced to a high gloss by Brendan O’Brien – one thinks of an unshaven model in a GQ ad, striking a soul-baring pose. On Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart, Cornell sings with a stud
Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson recently told The Journal De Montreal that he regrets not punching Axl Rose when Iron Maiden played with Guns N’ Roses in 1988. Dickinson humorously recalled wanting to hit Axl Rose at the Quebec Coliseum. He said Guns N’Roses came on first, and according to Dickinson, he wasn’t happy with Axl Rose’s response to the crowd due to them speaking to him in French. Dickinson said, “I should have come on stage and given him a punch. How could
The band pulled out of their show in San Antonio – their second gig cancellation in the space of a week after a performance in Denver was called off earlier. Frontman Lemmy has also cut two shows short in that time, firstly in Salt Lake City last week and then in Austin on Tuesday. In a statement (from the official facebook page) Motörhead says: We hope Lemmy gets well and come back to rock on stages soon.
Could you imagine a pedal that has many types of "Big Muff" inside the same small box? That's exactly what JHS did with this new pedal, the Muffuletta. This little box replicates five (yes five) classic Big Muff circuits from years gone by as well as a new and original JHS version for a total of six Muff models. The circuit is all analog, so no place for digital stuff here ;) The pedal will be available at September 8 and has a price tag of $229. Here are the models: JHS - "2
