Tony Iommi: No touring but "maybe" a new music

In a new interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Iommi reflected on the both the beginning of his Black Sabbath career as well the finality. When asked if he goes on vacation after tour, the riff master responded, “No, a vacation for me is to be at home. But I’m not going to leave the music business. I still want to write and play and I’ll be doing some TV for something over here in England called Guitar Star. But I love the playing, I love gigs, I just can’t travel anymore.” As for the future of Sabbath, Iommi was noncommittal, offering a simple, “Maybe.” Expanding on this notion, he continued, “As I said, I’ll be doing some writing. Maybe I’ll be doing something with the guys, maybe in the studio, but no touring.”

The question of new material is something that has been brought up to Iommi’s other long-term Sabbath bandmates, Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler. Ozzy has expressed a desire to hit the studio for one more solo album following the end of Black Sabbath’s run, but has remained opened to the possibility of recording with Iommi and Butler again. Black Sabbath’s final shows will take place at the Genting Arena in their native Birmingham, England on Feb. 2 and 4 of 2017.
